4 Things EVERY Bride needs to know!

Got engaged? Getting married?

He asked, and you said yes! Congratulations, but now where do you start with the planning?

Most of them time when a couple gets engaged they quickly get wrapped up in so much excitement that the plan to make their magical day come together gets clouded and really fast. Don’t let this happen to you, see it is easy to use others people experiences and knowledge to ease your planning. I am Ken Carter of Aadvanced Limousines, we have been a Wedding Vendor in Indianapolis for nearly 12 years. Our history has given us the chance to facilitate and be a part of almost 5000 magical weddings! Whether you are newly engaged or nearing the BIG day, let me share 4 tips with you that I think will help you to make your day go a little less hectic for you and your family.

  1. Know that this day is about YOU. Don’t let guests make you feel bad because you decided to bond with your life partner on a Friday and they have to work. This day is about you and your dream of how the events are going to unfold. Sometimes guests and influential people in a Brides life will try to impose their own thoughts into the planning. If you decide to have a dry wedding for whatever reason, then don’t second guess yourself on what you feel are decisions to make this a magical day!
  2. When you begin putting the pieces into play to help this Wedding come to life, keep in mind that most likely you are going to need help from a vendor of some sort. When you are choosing a supplier/vendor make sure to vet them, you want to interview them as if they are applying for a career with you. Consider these as some test questions to determine the caliber of vendor you are choosing:
    1. How many weddings have they serviced before? (this tells you how their experience will be at a once in a lifetime event)
    2. How long have they been in business? (this is a checks & balances for question #1)
    3. How big is the company (this will play into how they will react if someone comes ill)
    4. Are they familiar with the venue you have chosen? (the venue will be able to provide feedback if so)
    5. CHECK THEIR ONLINE REVIEWS (Yelp, Facebook, Google, Angieslist, The Knot, Wedding Wire) no company is perfect but this will uncover a pattern before your event is set for doom
  3. Realize that you can’t be everywhere, all the time on this special day. Use the approaching weeks prior to the day to visit the venue and/or reception hall and do a walk through. Let the day run through your head just as you envision it while you make notes of possible hiccups you find. Go back to home base and study said notes and delegate, ask close friends and some family if they mind to help organize on the day of. You will find that there is a lot of people in your inner circle who want to be involved in the Wedding but understand why they are in the Wedding, this is the perfect opportunity to include them!
  4. Follow up with ALL vendors the week of your Wedding, but when you do this don’t give too much info, you need to ask questions and make sure they give the correct answers. This step helps to ensure that the vendor was listening at the booking and made good notes of exactly how you want things arranged/ setup. Many times vendors will over think their setup process and do what their experience tells them will look best or fit into the space best and it may be VERY different than what you had in mind. It is also a great idea to go ahead and take care of any unpaid balances (make sure you get a emailed receipt, but don’t pay in full any earlier than the week of) this will eliminate the need to go hunting a searching for credit cards, cash, wallets & purses while the party is in full swing.

Congratulations on your big day!
